If you've ever listened to media downloaded or played from a Web site, you may have noticed that the playback was disrupted or somehow controlled. Unfortunately, Web site media can sometimes include extra commands in a script that are designed to control the playback. But I have a quick fix for that! Today, I'm going to show you how to apply a simple feature in Windows Media Player that will ensure the media you download or play from a Web site is safe. Let’s get started!
1.) First, go to Start, All Programs and open up Windows Media Player.
2.) Next, in the top right hand corner, click on the Access Application Menus button.
3.) Scroll down and click on Tools. A second box will then appear on the left where you can choose Options.
The Options dialogue box will then open.
4.) Click on the Security tab.
5.) You will now notice four unchecked boxes, with the first two being the most important. The first box says "Run script commands when present." Checkmark that box to avoid downloading and running scripts on your computer. The next box says "Do not run script commands and rich media streams if the Player is running inside a Web page." Checkmark that box to avoid Web page media from running scripts on your PC.
6.) Finally, go ahead and click OK.
Windows Media Player will then apply the new security settings to the Web media you play on your computer.
That’s all there is to it. You are now guaranteed a safe media experience!
